Toyota Fortuner, Toyota's flagship SUV in the Asian market including India and Nepal, has received a stylish facelift, with a new front and rear appearance, a powerful engine, and an updated features list. Ever since the debut of its 2nd generation, this is the official facelift Toyota has launched within the past 5 years. The new Fortuner comes with 2 engine options and 2 different design features, namely the standard model and the special ‘Legender’ model. The Toyota Fortuner which was launched in the Indian market over a decade now continues to dominate the segment with over 53% segment share, even today.
The exterior design of the base model has been enhanced with a larger front grille with a black horizontal mesh pattern and silver bumper strips. It also comes installed with newly designed slim headlights with LED daytime running lights, new taillights, and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, the Legender model gets more aerodynamic enhancements like a split front grille, as well as a redesigned front, and rear bumper.
The cabin, on the other hand, remains largely unchanged. However, there is an addition of an 8-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the interior, 8-way power-adjustable and ventilated driver and co-drivers seats, and a JBL 11 speaker w/ subwoofer system (4X4 variants only) are some of the new additions.
The 2021 Fortuner facelift gets two engine options - a 2.7-litre petrol engine that delivers 166 HP and 245 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual/5-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.8-litre diesel engine that gives a maximum output of 204 HP and 420 NM of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual/automatic transmission. The automatic transmission variant of the 2.8-litre engine provides best-in-class torque of 500 Nm.
The SUV comes with Auto Limited Slip Differential (Auto-LSD), Variable Flow Control (VFC) Power Steering with drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport) and Front Clearance Sonar to safely navigate when parking in tight spaces. The 4X4 (AT and MT) variants further enhance their off-road credentials with a Lockable Differential as an additional feature.
The new Fortuner will be available in existing colours of Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic, Pearl White Crystal Shine and a new colour of Sparkling Black Crystal Shine.
